Backlot Merchandise
The Backlot area of Disney’s Hollywood Studios has seen a revival of sorts throughout the past few years with the expansion of the Streets of America and the addition of the Lights, Motors, Action! Stunt Show, among other things. But even with the new attractions, this area of the park still remains one of the least-visited areas by guests, although this section offers many exciting rides and shows, plenty of places to grab a bite to eat and a vast array of unique merchandise that you can’t find anywhere else at the Walt Disney World Resort!
If your travel plans do include a trip to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, there are several things you need to do to get things in order for your vacation, none of which are more important than buying your theme park tickets. Your theme park tickets are your gateway to all of the fun located at the attractions in Central Florida and are the basis for your entire vacation, which is why OrlandoFunTickets.com is dedicated to providing you with the best discounted deals for your trip, including ticket packages that will suit any family’s size or budget. After you have your theme park tickets secured for the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks, it is important to begin making some plans for your time in the parks. In addition to knowing about which rides you want to hit in the parks, there are also certain tips that are important to remember regarding the merchandise items you purchase in the parks. First, if you are a guest at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you can take advantage of free package delivery to your hotel room free of charge and can also charge purchases directly to your room account by a simple swipe of your Key to the World card. If you are not staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you can still have your package sent to the front of the park so that you don’t have to lug your bags around with you all day. In addition, for an extra fee, your purchases can be shipped anywhere in the world via FedEx – just anticipate adding a few extra days onto your shipping because of processing delays at the Walt Disney World Resort.
At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the first merchandise location you will come upon if you are coming from the Hollywood Boulevard/Echo Lake area is Tattoine Traders. This store, which is located to the right of the Star Tours attraction entrance (this is also where the ride exits out of) has a large assortment of “Star Wars” merchandise items, but it also has a few unique shopping opportunities. Fans of the movies can not only take their picture and superimpose it on their favorite character for a one-of-a-kind picture, but they can also build their own light saber for an even more impressive collectible item!
Just down the street from Tattoine Traders is the Stage One Company Store, home to Muppets merchandise galore! Here, you can find toys, plush dolls and a very large baby/toddler selection of items as well. It’s a Wonderful Shop is also just down the alley (near the entrance to Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano), which is holiday themed 365 days a year! This store may be small in size, but it is huge in holiday spirit, offering items such as Christmas tree ornaments and holiday décor – and they can even personalize your merchandise (note – as the holidays approach, the wait time for personalizing at any Disney merchandise store is often weeks long, so act here while you can!).
New York Street in the Backlot is home to the next three merchandise location, including Youse Guys Moichendise and the Writer’s Stop. Youse Guys replicates a street vendor on the streets of NYC, but this fun store doesn’t sell books and magazines, but rather sports merchandise, New York-themed merchandise and items that are and under. The Writer’s Stop, located at the front of New York Street, has a cafe feel in which guests can peruse a book while sipping a cup of Joe at this coffee bar or purchase souvenirs like books, DVDs, cds, magazine and home decor items (think picture frames, photo albums, mugs, plate ware, etc.). The merchandise shop at the end of New York Street is a combination indoor/outdoor store and sells items such as Power Rangers merchandise and toys from the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies and the latest Disney-Pixar films.
Finally, the largest and most recognizable store in the Backlot is where the Backlot Tour actually lets out. The AFI Showcase features not only displays from movies and TV shows, but merchandise related to popular films such as “The Wizard of Oz,” “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones” and TV shows as well as Oscar-related merchandise (you can even pick up a replica of the famed statue here!).
The next time you are at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, be sure to take the time to visit everything in the Backlot area of the park, especially these merchandise locations mentioned above! But if you are planning to do so, just make sure you have one thing before you make your trip down to Central Florida – discounted theme park tickets from OrlandoFunTickets.com!
