Epcot, the second park built at the
Walt Disney World Resort, was one of Walt Disney’s visions before he passed away in 1966. Walt’s vision was for Epcot (the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow) to be a futuristic city, and while Epcot today is not exactly what Walt had in mind in terms of an actual city, the overall concept of Epcot stays true to his vision, as it is a showcase of international culture and technological innovation. Epcot eventually opened its gates on October 1, 1982, and was originally named Epcot Center until the name was changed to just Epcot in 1983.
