Outdoor Activities at WDW
Have you ever thought about doing something other than the theme parks while vacationing at the Walt Disney World Resort? How about getting in touch with nature? You can do all of this and more during your next vacation to Walt Disney World by enjoying Disney’s plethora of outdoor activities around the resort. From horseback riding to boating or fishing, Disney has it all! The Tri-Circle-D Ranch & Farm, located at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, is one of the best places at the Walt Disney World Resort to escape into a country-like atmosphere. Here, you can take a horse-drawn carriage ride through the woods, take a 45-minute guided horseback ride through the campgrounds or take your child (ages 2 and up) on a ride on Cinderella’s ponies around the stables. The Tri-Circle-D Ranch & Farm is also home to the horses that parade up and down Main Street U.S.A., which are available for your viewing. Whether you grew up on a ranch or farm, or have never ventured outside of a big city, you are sure to love the laid-back nature of this treasure at the Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. If boating is one of your favorite outdoor activities, be sure to check out Disney’s vast array of marinas and watercraft located across property. From Sea Raycers by Sea Ray, Boston Whaler Montauk boats, kayaks, pontoons and sailboats to paddle boats, there is a price and a speed that fits into every family vacation. Guests can take these boats out for a ride on either the Seven Seas Lagoon or Bay Lake in front of the Magic Kingdom (these can be rented at any of the Magic Kingdom Park hotels) or at several other resorts and areas on property. Each boat has it own specifications, but guests must be at least 12 years old and five feet tall to drive a Sea Raycer at most of the marinas. However, at any of the Magic Kingdom resorts, due to the large lake, there must be at least one person in the boat with a valid driver’s license. There is a maximum of two persons per Sea Raycer and a combined total weight limit of 320 pounds. All drivers under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign a release as well. If driving the boat is not your ideal way to spend a day of vacation, perhaps a fishing excursion is. Two-hour fishing excursions are scheduled for three different departure times during the day – 7 a.m., 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the 12 different resort marinas and at the Downtown Disney Marketplace marina. The rates are $ 35 for the first two morning excursions and $ 200 for the afternoon excursion, and the prices for the private catch-and-release trip are good for you and up to four other guests. All Walt Disney World Resort Guided Fishing Excursions include an experienced fishing guide, rod and reel, tackle, artificial and live bait, beverages and a one-year BASS membership. Reservations can be made by calling 407-939-BASS to book one of these excursions. So the next time you are visiting Walt Disney World, slow down and enjoy the great outdoors!
