Transportation in Orlando

Orlando is one of the easiest places to get to, as we explained in our article on getting to Orlando. But once you are here, how do you get around? Luckily for you, the transportation in Orlando is second to none and below is a detailed explanation of all of those options for getting around Central Florida.

If you are flying into Orlando, you have many transportation options available to you to help you get to your hotel. If you decide that you would like to have a rental car to enjoy your stay in Orlando, the Orlando International Airport has six different rental car services on-site to get you going. While we recommend the Dollar and Thrifty Car Rental, a complete list of all rentals is below:

There are an additional 15 car/van rental services that are located off-site of the Orlando International Airport, but they do have courtesy shuttles that will take you from OIA to pick up your rental vehicle. Other transportation options from OIA include shuttle and limousine services. The Mears Airport Shuttle offers services from the airport right to your hotel, and can be booked by calling (407) 423-5566. Another transportation option to get you to and from the Orlando International Airport is Disney Magical Express Service. If you are a guest at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, this is a free and complimentary air-conditioned motor coach ride to and from the airport for both you and your luggage. In fact, you don’t even have to worry about getting your luggage once you land – just go straight to your awaiting motor coach, and your bags will be delivered later to your hotel room within three hours of your check-in time. It is best to book this at least 10 days in advance by calling 407-WDW-INFO. 

Orlando also offers a bus system that is a great way of getting around town. LYNX transportation is a bus system that serves all of Orlando. Standard one-way fare is $ 1.50 and all of the LYNX bus station stops around town are easy to spot, as they all have a LYNX paw in place of the commonly-used bus stop sign flags.

Another option for getting around the International Drive area is the I-Ride Trolley. This trolley service runs from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. and takes guests to hundreds of destinations throughout the International Drive Resort Area. Single fare is $ 1.00 per ride, and kids ages 12 and under ride free. Multiple day passes are available as well, and senior citizens can ride for only .25 cents each ride (Exact cash and change are required).
