Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Villas
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is the only Magic Kingdom Park affiliated hotel at the Walt Disney World Resort that does not sit along the monorail system, but with all of the other perks that come along with staying here, you won’t even notice. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge channels the great Pacific Northwest with its rugged exterior and location – back amidst a heavily wooded area on the cusp of the beautiful Bay Lake. In fact, the futuristic monorail would probably take away from the aura that surrounds Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and as many guests who have stayed here will tell you, it is perfect the way it is! From the outside, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge looks like a giant log cabin with two authentic totem poles out front that recalls the grandeur of the grand National Park lodges of the American Northwest. To further add to the authenticity, the main building is modeled after the historic Old Faithful Lodge in Yellowstone National Park from 1904, and the resort also includes a real working geyser and hot springs.
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge offers over 700 rooms with either queen-size beds and bunk beds or two sets of bunk beds, room service, one quick service and two full service restaurants, a health club, bike and watercraft rentals, catch and release fishing, a jogging trail and even horse-drawn excursions that travel through the nearby Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Children’s services include a playground, arcade, Chip’n Dale’s Campfire Sing-a-long and the Cub’s Den, a children’s club with supervised activities that is open daily from 4 p.m. until midnight. And, as mentioned above, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is located only minutes away from the Magic Kingdom Park (guests can access it by boat or bus) while still keeping the secluded nature of the resort intact.
For those of you who are members of the Disney Vacation Club, you too can take advantage of this special resort. The Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge offer all of the amenities of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge with the comforts of home. The villas offer either studios with a kitchenette or villas with a separate kitchen and living room area. Most rooms at the villas come with additional amenities such as high-speed Internet access, irons and ironing boards, coffee makers, refrigerators and in-room safes. If you choose to stay at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, you are going to need tickets for you and your family to head into the parks and take advantage of the perks that come with being a guest at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel. Among those privileges are Extra Magic Hours (before the parks open and after they close), in which only resort guests get to experience the best attractions with much lesser crowds. If you are flying into Orlando International Airport, you can also take advantage of Disney’s Magical Express Transportation, which picks you up and takes you to your Walt Disney World Resort free of charge. Transportation is also complimentary on-site at your resort hotel, as you can hop on a bus and be shuttled anywhere on property without ever having to spend a dime to park or worry about how to get where. There are other resort benefits as well, such as the Disney Dining Plan, an offer where you can save 40 percent on dining on over 100 restaurants across property, as well as complimentary package delivery and amazing facilities that only Walt Disney World Resort guests can enjoy.
